Venture forward



There is a reason we make new year's resolutions. It is the start of a new year, full of hope and promise. Anything seems possible. This is a great time to review your last year. What did you love about it? What are you proud of? What would you like to continue? What would you like more of? Less of? What could be different this year? Celebrate your successes. Forgive and accept your losses.

Now look to the future. This year is filled with treasure. What is the treasure you want for yourself? Include everything that is important to you. Let go of anything that is not of real value. Envision all the beautiful details of your treasure. How do you feel when you think of it. What will acquiring this treasure give you?

This is the month to create the map to get the treasure. Use whatever tools you want - pen, paper, computer, paint brush, images, words. Create something that represents the treasure and the way to get to it. You are the cartographer. Utilize any resources you need for your journey. You are resourceful. You are creative. You know the way.

With your treasure map in hand, take your first step. It can be any step. Even if you misstep, you will learn from that and can course-correct. Make January the month of creating your vision for the year and taking one action toward it.

One important piece of treasure for me this year is to be healthy and at my ideal weight. I am taking my first steps by setting a diet of my own choosing, tracking my calories and tracking my results. I have planned daily exercise as part of the plan - all types of exercise that I love and will enjoy doing. I will let you know where I am on my journey at the end of the month.

I am wishing you courage to ask this year for the things you want most and taking the time to design your map. Start your journey! Even if you don't get to the exact location you have mapped out, if you start the journey, you will have an adventure. You will learn. You will grow. You will feel alive. What could be a greater treasure?
