Boosting your "ME TIME"

"What is ONE Thing you could do this week to consciously choose "me time" that recharges you?"

Last weeks questions was "What is ONE Thing you can do to remember someone you love?" I said was going to take some time to journal about the gratitude I feel for my ancestors. I did take some time to journal about my family and how their bravery in leaving their homes and possessions ultimately made it possible for me to live the wonderful life I get to live now. This exercise left me feeling humbled and grateful for the choices I get to have about how I live my life.

I heard on the radio last week a statistic that most people only get 43 minutes of "me time" every day. After spending sometime thinking about my ancestors who probably never got any "me time," that doesn't even sound that bad. But it got me thinking that we could all make more use of our "me time" if we planned it consciously and do things that really recharge us. Sometimes we need our "me time" to just relax and it might be to watch TV or use a favourite app on our phone. But for myself, those kinds of activities don't really give me a boost. They are just things I default to if I am tired. So my question for this week is, "What is ONE Thing you could do this week to consciously choose "me time" that recharges you?"

I had to think about this question and ask myself what I would really love to do to feel peaceful, connected and recharged. Some ideas that came to mind were, having a bath at night before bed to relax, go for a walk for some time to reflect, carve out a few hours in the week to paint or write, meditate. Those ideas are all reflective and speak to what recharges me, but other ideas could be more active like, a challenging workout, cooking and enjoying a fabulous meal, going out dancing or to some sort of live entertainment. This question helps you identify what it is that makes you feel rejuvenated.

I have decided that I am going to spend at least 20 minutes a day of my 'me time' this week with my journal. I love journaling and I have gone through periods of time when I do it daily and other times where I have lost to routine of it. I know I always feel more in alignment with my values and goals when I take some time to journal daily. I feel rejuvenated just thinking about it.

What will you do this week to for your "me time"? I'd love to hear what you choose to do and I hope it makes you feel great! Please share anything you would like in the comments below, on Facebook or in our Weekly ONE Thing Facebook Group!
